Interests include the quantitative and theoretical integration of the fact that people differ from each other in consistent and stable ways and the fact that each individual differs from himself or herself as he or she moves across situations and time. Quantitatively, this interest has led to exploring new directions in the analysis of repeated measures data and constructs such as consistency, change, and agreement. In addition, I am interested in the psychometrics of scale development and evaluation. Substantively, we are applying a social-cognitive framework to understand how social anxiety is a function of the interaction of individual difference variables, such as efficacy and motivation, with situational variables, such as psychological demands. In addition, we are investigating the ways in which lay people make predictions about social behavior – what kind of information (e.g., traits, immediate moods, situational context, etc) do judges believe is most relevant in predicting what another person will do, and how are these preferences related to judges’ personalities?
